the fifth release on dresden-based label uncanny valley is the first artist-ep and with jacob korn and his she ep one of the artists that contributed to the label from the very beginning provides a great start for the new series. last year the eponymous she has already made the summer even more thrilling when jacob played it in his live set.

the ep opens with >hypnotic bass<, a track with a very groovy gnaoua rythm. the sound of the guembri gives the production a very warm sensation. next up is >deep medina<, the title track. a real journey, the vocals are strong while sidi mohammeds lute elicits shivers. the melody manages to sound traditional while modern at the same time. >for hou!!!<, the closing track, philip bader perfectly works the acoustic samples, resulting in a characteristically berlin minimal sound. the kick and the bass are very heavy.

this new reference on dilek records is something very particular and out of the ordinary. it was achieved after a long period of work in the studio, which lasted three years and was done with a lot of heart and passion. its the 10th vinyl release of this surprising swiss/argentinean label who is now presenting an extremely multicultural project. these productions are full of diversity and humanity, telling the story of an unusual encounter that led to a beautiful musical project with many influences, but mainly focused on the dancefloor, without complexes and far away from the purism.

with der hut 17, mekas >rain cover< gets three very individual and pretty outstanding retreatments. argentinean fellow pablo denegri teases out the softer and more subtle tones of the very straight-forward original, whereas homeboy qik gives it more weird and enigmatic touch. the record gets finalized by a dry and minimalist techno rework from labelhead jonas wahrlich together with carbon.

basic soul unit returns to his herman project with an excellent early chicago influenced house track. seriously good track that is weird and wonky with much quality in the drum programming. very spacious without being cheeky. it comes comes with an utterly irresistible rework from vakula reminiscent of the halcyon days of chi house. and as bonus 4 locked grooves! one of our favorite fine art records to date!
